K20 Resources

K20 Resources for MAGPI Members

Just getting started with MAGPI and Internet2? There are many resources which can help you identify and develop exicing programs and opportunities. Be sure to check out:

Internet2 and the Internet2 K20 Initiative first. Here you'll find information on Internet2 including networking, members, workshops, upcoming Internet2 events, and more. Also be sure to read through the MAGPI K20 Resources Document and visit the MAGPI K20 Network page to learn about upcoming meetings and events.

If you're looking for international collaborations, you may want to try searching the ARENA Atlas. This database allows you to search by region, country, or network. (Though, be warned, this is not the most up to date information so if the country or school you're looking for is not listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it's not connected.) You might also want to visit the Internet2 International Partnerships webpage and the World Bank's Global Development Learning Network (GDLN).

Through the national MyK20 database, you can have access to a searchable database of Internet2 K20 projects, as well as additional resources and information on Internet2's K20 Initiative. Be sure to register and add your projects to this Internet2 MyK20 database.

For more projects and partners check out the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration's CILC database where you'll find distance/distributed collaboration opportunities and virtual field trip program offerings. If you have a project and you're looking to find partner schools, be sure to post your project in the organization's "Collaboration Center."

Two Way Interactive Connections in Education (TWICE) hosts two databases - one for Virtual Fieldtrips and a Content Provider Database. Here you can find a searchable database of more than 1400 virtual field trip opportunities. TWICE also provides professional development materials and course opportunities for teachers.

If you want to learn the essentials of H.323 videoconferencing, you will want to read the Video Development Initiative's (ViDe) Videoconferencing Cookbook and the Internet2 Commons H.323 Resource materials and Real Time Communications Collaboration Tools.

There are also seveal K20 related list-servs that you can join:

Megaconference Listserv:
The largest H.323 videoconferencing list.

Megaconference Jr. Listserv:
Information about Megaconference Jr. and forming connections with other international Megaconference Jr. participants.

K12-IVC Listserv:
Established in 2002; Many IP and Internet2 connected sites subscribe to this list.

TWICE Listserv
This listserve caters to mostly Michigan K12 schools, but there are often great collaborative opportunities.

Videoconferencing Collaboration COLLAGE
Facilitates videoconferencing collaboration between K-12 educators.
