Description:

In honor of International Day of Tolerance, join Global Education Motivators (GEM), the United Nations and MAGPI for an interactive event that investigates the effects of armed conflict on the lives of children. Highlighting Sudan, a virtual panel discussion originating from the United Nations will invite students from across the globe to examine tolerance and intolerance through African cultural issues. The panel will feature several individuals who have been directly involved by the situation in Sudan (including individuals connecting remotely from Juba, Sudan) and will help students become more aware of the critical role the UN plays in assiting children affected by armed conflict. Michael Major Kuch, GEM Educator and former resident of Sudan, will moderate.

The concluding portion of the videoconference will challenge students to take action by asking a simple question: now that we know what is happening, what can we do? It is hoped that students will take their own concerns and solutions back to their communities and effect positive change.
