Objective: Students will investigate and share what they learn about our own communities through the research and graph construction. Students will have an opportunity to share their graphs, and participate in a brief conversation about Earth System Science. FEI will also share the tri-state data and explain data visualizations (including computer modeling).
Pre-Videoconference Preparation:
- Complete data gathering/graphing: Complete Project 1
- Presentations: Make sure students are ready to share one of their graphs and explain what they can conclude from their graph
- Prep Students for Discussion: Students should be ready to share some reflections from their research gathering process
Videoconference Agenda:
- Welcome/Introductions (5 Minutes)
- Student Presentations (15 Minutes)
- Each school will have an opportunity to share their graphs
- Students should explain what information they can discern from their graph and what conclusions they have drawn
- Discussion of Research Process/Scientific Method (10 minutes)
- Overview of Earth System Science (10 minutes)
- Explanation of Data and Data Visualization (10 Minutes)
- Concluding Remarks (5 Minutes)
